The idea for the glass vessels Contrasto was born from the need to explore the infinite potentialities of glass, highlighting on one only surface the different shades of this material, with an interplay of opposites.
On one side blown glass, hand crafted, smooth and opaque, is opposed on the other to the glass named “cotisso”, shiny and sharp gem.
This contrast gives to the vessel a strong identity and a unique preciousness, emphasized also by the dimensions of the artwork, which is intentionally impressive.
The sinuous shape, abstract and rippled, typical of the artworks designed by Michela Cattai, is enhanced by the special cold finishing, which gives the piece a both aesthetical and technical strong power.
Designer
Derzeit lebt sie in Mailand. Sie besuchte die Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Sie wurde für die Teilnahme an einer Gruppenausstellung im Museo Vetrario (Glasmuseum) von Murano ausgewählt. Trotz ihrer Präsenz in Mailand bleibt sie immer mit Venedig verbunden, wo sie ihr Studium des Glases in der Fornace (Glasofen) vertiefte und persönlich mit der Praxis des geblasenen Glases experimentierte. Im April 2017 wurde Michela eingeladen, ihre Forschungen zum Glas in der Abgeordnetenkammer, im Sala del Cenacolo in Rom mit einer Ausstellung zu präsentieren. Darüber hinaus hat sie an mehreren Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen teilgenommen, und ihre Werke sind in Privatsammlungen und in internationalen Museen vertreten.
