Colours chase and brush against each other in this work by Timo Sarpanava, at times blending together on sheer waves, exquisitely created by the master glassblowers.
A designer who contributed to the fame of Finnish design.
Timo Sarpaneva graduated in 1948 from the Institute of Industrial Arts, which later became the Art and Design University in Helsinki.
Despite his education in graphic design, he mainly worked as an industrial designer and even dedicated himself to glassmaking in VENINI’s Fornace (Kiln) from 1988 on.
Today, his works are displayed in many museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the Corning Museum of Glass.
