Mario Bellini

When he graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1963, Mario Bellini started to work for Olivetti. From 1962 to 1965, he lectured at the Institute for Industrial Design in Venice, while he kept designing furniture, home appliances, hearing aids, hi-fi systems, lamps, and many other objects.
An internationally acclaimed architect and designer, Mario Bellini was awarded the Compasso d’Oro 8 times throughout his career and assigned several prestigious international distinctions. In 2004, he was conferred the Gold medal by President of the Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi for his contribution in spreading design and architecture throughout the world, and the Gold medal for Civic Merit assigned by the Municipality of Milan – the Ambrogino d’Oro – in 2011.
As many as 25 of Bellini’s works are exhibited in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which also dedicated a personal retrospective to him in 1987. He has also created numerous exhibition designs in Italy and abroad.
His collaboration with VENINI started in 1992 with the collections Sogni Infranti and Uragano. During the 2012 Salone del mobile he presented the new vases, dishes, and cups Chimera and Canneti.
