The idea for the glass vessels Contrasto was born from the need to explore the infinite potentialities of glass, highlighting on one only surface the different shades of this material, with an interplay of opposites.
On one side blown glass, hand crafted, smooth and opaque, is opposed on the other to the glass named “cotisso”, shiny and sharp gem.
This contrast gives to the vessel a strong identity and a unique preciousness, emphasized also by the dimensions of the artwork, which is intentionally impressive.
The sinuous shape, abstract and rippled, typical of the artworks designed by Michela Cattai, is enhanced by the special cold finishing, which gives the piece a both aesthetical and technical strong power.
Designer
Actuellement résidente à Milan, elle a fréquenté l’Académie des Beaux-Arts. Elle a été sélectionnée pour participer à une exposition collective auprès du Musée verrier de Murano. Malgré svittorioa présence à Milan, elle reste toujours liée à Venise, où elle approfondit l’étude du verre dans la Fornace, en expérimentant personnellement la pratique du verre soufflé. En avril 2017, Michela a été invitée pour présenter sous forme d’exposition sa recherche sur le verre à la Chambre des Députés, dans la Salle du Cenacolo, à Rome. En plus, elle a participé à de nombreuses expositions, personnelles et collectives et ses travaux sont présents dans des collections privées ainsi que dans des musées internationaux.
