“ The light makes a fluid passage from top to bottom, illuminating the leather sculpture: hen lit up, the colour of the glass diffuser interacts with the leather strips surrounding it so that the light is propagated in a dance of waning intensity and progressive fading away, reminding one of the trails of light that follow shooting stars as they cross the sky ... ”
Founded in 1991 in La Neuveville, Switzerland, by Aurel Aebi, Armand Louis and Patrick Reymond, Atelier Oï distinguishes itself due to its multi-disciplinary nature. The Atelier’s works derive from the world of architecture, design, stage design, and, often, from a mix of all these art forms.
To these designers, the origin of every creation is the material: its nature, its response to the crafting process, and its interactions with other materials are the focal point of their continuous experimentation. An approach that is open to every possibility, at times emotional and poetic, and which has always characterised Atelier Oï.
Apart from the many collaborations with various companies, its founders also teach at the Design Department of the Ecal – University of Art and Design Lausanne in Switzerland. Their first collaboration with VENINI dates back to 2011.
